Two world records, diesel pickup and big rig trucks drag and outdoor exhibits highlight the third-annual Charlotte Diesel Super Show

CHARLOTTE (October 2012)The third annual Charlotte Diesel Super Show held at the zMax Dragway in Concord, N.C., is one for the books. Professional sports motorcycle freestyle rider Jesse Toler set two world records by performing not only the world’s longest stoppie, but a stoppie — a motorcycle trick in which the back wheel is lifted and is ridden on the front wheel — at the fastest speed ever, 150 mph!  “This years’ show was a great success, and having two world records set really amplified that,” said Alan Sims, vice president and executive director of Randall-Reilly Events. 

The two-day show gave attendees many occasions for fun and entertainment: Diesel pickup and big rig drag races, the Overdrive Pride & Polish truck beauty contest, an outdoor expo of more than 100 industry-related displays, jet funny cars, Hooters wing eating contest, monster trucks displays and Candy Coburn entertained the crowd on Friday evening with country hits. Attendees were able to take drives down the zMax Dragway. “Never a dull moment here,” one attendee commented.

Thousands of people poured through the gates at noon on Friday.  From then on it was non-stop action for spectators and exhibitors alike.  Tony Welnicke of Big Rig Chrome Shop out of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, remarked, “The people are wonderful, the show is great, and we have pretty much sold out of everything we brought down here.  We will definitely be back for the show next year!”

The show closed on Saturday night with award ceremonies for Overdrive’s Pride & Polish and drag racing events.  “For the third year in a row, the Charlotte Diesel Super Show had something for everyone,” said Sims. We had very positive feedback from exhibitors and attendees. The Charlotte Diesel Super Show has proven to be a great addition to our event lineup, delivering what our clients have come to expect. The show really delivers something for everyone.”

Exhibitor Armbands

Exhibitor armbands are required for those persons working directly in your exhibit. Each staff member must wear the armband during move-in, show and move out hours.

Two exhibitor armbands will be issued per 10×10 space. A maximum of 10 exhibitor armbands will be issued for those exhibits over 400 square feet.  Each exhibiting company must send a list of staff names for the armbands. Additional armbands may be purchased for $10.00/armband. Please contact our office at 888-349-4287.

All Exhibitor Arm Bands will distributed onsite at Exhibitor Registration.

BRACKET RACING FORMAT – The bracket classes are for any working diesel truck with a t least 20” wheel rims. Trucks must be working class, licensed and inspected and must be street legal. This class will be handicapped by driver’s choice, bracket style. All brackets are dial-in. Bracket Racing will be explained at the Driver’s Meeting.

CLASS BR 1: The first 32 trucks registered will be in this bracket

CLASS BR 2: The second 32 trucks registered will be in this bracket

CLASS BR 3: The third 32 trucks registered will be in this bracket

Class winner trophies will be awarded to each BR class and winners are eligible for the $1,500.00 zMAX Dragway Diesel Event overall event prize and the $500.00 runner-up cash award.
